Prifender, a data mapping and regulatory compliance startup, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sagi Leizerov, CIPP/US, Prifender Chief Data Solutions Officer, to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). The IAPP is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy organization with over 40,000 members.
Dr. Leizerov, who will serve a five-year term on the board, is a widely recognized information governance and privacy expert who has guided the implementation of multiple programs. As Prifenders’ Chief Data Solutions Officer, he brings unrivalled regulatory and data privacy expertise to the company, where he works with Prifender customers on maximizing the benefit of the technology to their privacy management needs.
Prior to Prifender, Leizerov worked in Ernst & Young’s privacy services group since its infancy 16 years ago and progressed to become their Global Privacy Leader for privacy assurance and consulting services. In this role, Sagi served Fortune 500 companies across numerous sectors including technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
The IAPP board is made up of leaders in the privacy field. Dr. Leizerov’s election marks the first time that a privacy technology vendor has been elected to the board, a significant recognition of the role technology is and will be playing in privacy management going forward.
“Companies have more data than ever before. This plethora has led to increased sensitivity of personal information, as our view of individuals has become more granular, and the tools we used 10 years ago for managing privacy are now insufficient,” said Leizerov. “Regulatory changes in the field of privacy require our profession to change focus from defining policies to effectiveness in applying policies. This is a message I intend to bring with me to board discussions.”
Also joining the board are Patrice Ettinger, CIPP/US, CPO, Pfizer; and Dr. Philipp Raether, CIPP/E, Group CPO, Allianz. “We are honored to have the expertise of these three privacy professionals joining our board,” said IAPP President and CEO J. Trevor Hughes, CIPP, in IAPP’s formal announcement.“ Each of them brings a unique perspective into the burgeoning field of data protection around the world.”
